Jack

I'm sure you will enjoy the new saw much more than the Craftsman. Congrats!

Thanks guys,
Yeah I'm really looking forward to picking it up. Need to bring a couple off wrenches so I can take it off the stand and fit everything in my car. Neat stand though, it has a built in tilt, I didn't realize that.. I already had a piece of 2x6 under the back of my Craftsman and really didn't like the room it took up on my bench. This way I can have the DeWalt anywhere in the shop that's comfortable instead of jammed in between my drill press and belt sander..
Pictures will follow!!!

Congrat's Jack. You really did luck out-- it sounds like ! Hope it is a real cherry saw & you enjoy it a bunch. If you think you might need to move it now & then, I would put it on casters, so you can move it around where you want. I like that adjustment on the stand. It makes it real easy to adust up where you want it. If you do. I also added a foot switch to mine, so I wouldn't have a problem with the on-off switch. It did quit on me once, before adding the foot switch. After that, it has been no problem. Good Luck & enjoy your new toy.

Well, I'm home, took 3 1/2 hours to drive to meet the guy, but what a great kid. He gave me the DeWalt for $200.00 then threw in a 10" Craftsman band saw with 3 blades. Plus he drove the better part of an hour to meet me so my trip wouldn't be quite so long.. There are few people in the world like that, oh yeah, he loaded everything in my car for me, said, don't worry this thing is pretty heavy~!~! What a great guy, wouldn't take a penny more for it either...
Tomorrow I meet Jan and get a few "good" blades and try out my new saw.. Can't wait..

Well here it is 19 days later and my DeWalt 788 is DEAD !!!!!!! Blew 5 fuses today so it's off to the service center. The guy there told me he has one that has been in the shop more than it has been at the owners home! Says the motor keeps dying. I sure hope this isn't a sign of things to come....

Sorry to here about the fuses. Was wondering is there a site on the web that you could look and see if there is a recall for it. Maybe the manufacturer is up and up and will know how to fix it so it won't keep having the problem. I realize it is an older model but could it hurt to ask?

I got a call from the service center yesterday. They told me that they were going to try to get the saw fixed under warante. I have no idea how he's going to manage that but if he wants to try I said go for it. If it needs a new motor the cost is right about $225.00 plus labor I would guess. So at that point I don't know if it's worth laying out that kind of money over buying a new saw.. We'll see. The guy that works on them is on vacation for a week, so nothing will be done quickly, but living in Florida I'm pretty used to that..
Thanks for the reply.
