Default Vibrations (not the good ones)

I am wondering if there is a way to lessen the vibration on my scroll saw. Admittedly, a have a low-end model, a Delta 16" variable speed, which is bolted to a set of legs, and sits on a fairly level concrete floor. I do not want to bolt in to the floor. Any tips or ideas I can try?

You might try adding some extra weight to the stand. Bag of concrete is about 90 lbs and will lay in there.

What Mike suggests or bags of sand draped over the leg stretchers. Has the saw always vibrated a lot or just started? You may have something coming loose if it just started. Does it vibrate at all speeds? Try changing the speed if it just does it at a certain speed.
Set it on some rubber mats, carpeting or carpet padding.
Good luck with it.

Try a rubber pad between the saw and stand and one between the stand and the floor.

I've got my saw on styrofoam blocks. They're there more to keep the downstairs neighbor happy.

I have mine bolted to a bench with a sheet of 1/2" insertion rubber.
The machine sits in a 1/2" piece of ply, the ply sits on the insertion rubber and the whole lot is bolted down.

I use to a Ryobi that had a lot of vibration. I used a rubber mate between the saw and the stand. It did help.

Never did this but it should work: Make a sand box large enough to mount saw on. Fill with 40 lbs of clean sand, not play stuff, then mount lid with saw attached. I guess a filler hole could be used too. The theory is the sand absorbs the vibrations by dissipating the energy moving sand. Kind of strange but that's what an Israel engineer webpage recommended.
