Smile Cut in Stone?

Hello, I was wondering if it is at all possible to cut patterns in light thin flat stone? Would normal blades work, or is it even possible?

Thanks in advance....

You could try jewelers blades, slow and steady, not tried it myself but they meant too cut precious stone right.

Jewelers blades are meant to cut non-ferrous metals. It takes diamond or carbide to cut rock. And lots of water or oil, depending on the rock. Rock has a nasty way of shattering and can be dangerous to cut if you don't know what you are doing or don't have the proper equipment.

I have cut some slate roofing tiles. When a blade is too dull to cut wood I save these to cut slate.Make sure to cover your sawtable with plywwod so you do not scratch it.A blade usually only last for 5 minutes.Hope this helps you.

I've heard of cutting alabaster on the scroll saw. The pictures I saw were pretty cool. I don't remember where I saw it though....
