Hello people I am new to the world of the scroll saw and need some help I recently bought some black palm wood and it is very dense. Every time i go to cut it the blade/cut vears left making a diagnol incision. what i am trying to figure out is if there is a better blade or speed to cut at to prevent this from happening?

We actually just had a whole thread on that topic. Rather than retype my answer, there are a lot of tips in that thread here : Cutting straight? no Basically, it all boils down to practice and getting used to the fact that blades want to cot to the right. Some blades more than others. Ray

My first guess would be that you do not have enough tension on the blade. Too much tension is better than too little. With the saw off and tension on the blade, pluck the back side of the blade like a guitar string. You shoukld get a nice "ting" sound. You shouldn't be able to move the blade in any direction more than 1/8" when you push on it. When cutting be sure to push the blade straight into the teeth rather than to the side. You didn't say how thick the wood is, maybe the blade is too small. The thicker the wood the bigger the blade.

Thank you much, All of you I will indeed try these options. Mick: I haven't messed with the blade tension since i pulled it out of the box so that might be a big part of the problem ![]() Tony: I have tried slowing the blade all the way down and it diddn't help but thanks for the try man. I will try tightining then at a slow speed thanks man.Ocelot: Thanks to you too man I needed a fresh link like this I thank you much |
