I was wondering if someone could help me out? I live in Calgary,AB.,Canada.I have purchased a few different brands of blades but none of them are numbered, for example #5,#7,#9.All they say on them is the lenght, and the number of teeth per inch. After reading a lot of discusions I don`t really know what is what!I know it`s probably a silly question, but any help would be really appreicated! Thanks in advance! |

Here is a chart for Olsen blades, I assume thats what you bought http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/yhst-...roll-chart.pdf . Do check out Mike's Workshop English featuring: my life story, a cancer survivor, scrollsawing samples and tips, community service, list of favorite sites and Flying Dutchman fretsaw blades for sale. when you need blades, his blades are top notch and priced cheaply, and he ships FAST

Oldwhitehairedguy: Well, I'm old too and do not have much white hair - that is not much hair at all but my redeeming claim is that I live in EDMONTON. I bought blades from Busy Bee, House of Tools [now extinct] and Lee Valley. All blades available here are Olson except for Lee Valley. In every case, the blades have a reference number and with that number there are posted specifications all including the blade universal identification number that you referred to in your post. So, unless you have dumped all the blades out to mix them up, you should be able to add any missing identifier to what you have. If you did dump them all out, do you think you could spread them out and visually pick out the thicker ones, the ones with different tooth pattern and in this way identify what you have according to the published specs? Lee Valley sell plastic tubes with caps long enough to hold your blades. You can insert a paper label of your own for future identification. I have stored my initial small variety this way and once I have tried out several different blades and know what I want for which jobs I do, I intend to order from "Mikes". I hope this is of help.
