Unhappy My Dewalt 788 arrived today

It finally came and guess what I am sick as a dog I did get it unpacked enough to see that pretty yellow color but that was about all I could do. Hopefully I will get it set up by the week end. I do have one questions to ask the group. When I put the stand together is it a good idea to slant the saw or tilt it forward and if so why. Hope to here from someone.

One sick Doc

Yep tilt the saw forward...This is just my humble opinion but it sure cuts down on neck and shoulder fatigue..Congrats on the new toy!

I have mine tilted about 3 1/2 "s setting atop a 4x4 on my workbench I don't have the stand.

You need to see a Doctor.....

Sorry to hear you don't feel well enough to play right away, but when you do.....tilt it, reasons already given. Congratulations, and hope you get to use it real soon.

Yup, I agree with tilting it towards you, especially if you will be sitting while cutting, you will find it much more comfortable.

Default Feeling Better

Thanks for the replys, I am feeling better today and have the 788 all set up. I tilted it 3 inches and I just love the position you all were right. Hopefully tomorrow I will start doing some heavy cutting I can't believe how quiet and vibration free the 788 is it sure is well built. I got if from Grizzley on sale for $470.00 and that included the stand the light and the shipping. I think their sale ends on Sept 19th so I just made it. If you snoose you loose.

Doc

Hey, Doc, hope you are feeling better now & I'm sure you will love that "ole Yellar".
I have one & love it. Just a suggestion for you, consider getting a foot switch for easy on-off cutting. It will also help to eliminate switch problems. Mine collected dust & would not work at times. I just turned it on & taped over it when I got my foot switch. I don't have any problems now. It isn't the best thing though, if you stand up & cut. Hope you enjoy the saw. Perk

Hey guys!
Just wanted to say I am waiting for my new Dewalt 788 to be delivered some time today! My husband & son went in together and got it for me thru Grizzly - same as Doc's deal. Great price.
I just got laid off from a company that sells safety products. Anyway, I could get something thru them for costs plus 10%. Just found out they sell Dewalt products on a limited scale. (None in showroom - sales has to call for a price) Price for employees was $559.00 and no stand or light so this is a great deal at Grizzly.
I am so excited! And I'm glad to know about the tilt!
Thanks all,
Anne
