After you break a blade do you try and run the new blade back through where you left off or do you have to go back to the enterance hole. I am having trouble getting it back through where I left off. I have a hawk 220. Thanks for any help. Kraig

Hi Kraig, When that happens, I usually go back into the original hole but I go in the opposite direction from where I started. Works in most cases. Others may have other ideas. Welcome to the forum. David

Kraig, it is usually easier to go back where you started. Just stop breaking blades. Makes you jump doesn't it?

kraig I usually go right back where the blade broke, with a little patients the blade usually goes right back in the cut area.

Hi Kraig, If it is an inside fret cut (which is most of the time), I do like David and start back at the pilot hole and go in the opposite direction. If it is an outside cut, I start at the edge nearest the break. |

I find that lose a lot of cutting time by trying to start at the point of breakage instead of going back to the starter hole. If I'm in the middle of a very narrow and fragile cute, turn the blade backwards to move the blade back to the point of breakage and then just spin then spin around the new blade and scroll on.

Usually after I break a blade I jump back a couple of feet . Then when my heart slows down I will go in from where I started if it is close to where the blade broke or I will start where I would have finished that piece and just cut to where the break was whether it is a puzzle piece or a cutout.

I have not broke a blade since getting a Dewalt scroll saw. If close to the entry hole I will rethread there, if a ways into the cut I will try rethreading where it broke. Dean |
