| ![]() Well, you guys all know that I am big time green, and I am in awe of the talent that is here on this board. Last weekend I just got the Black and Decker scroll saw that I ordered, and I played with practicing some cuts. I'm off this weekend, so tomorrow morning I hit the shop to make my first attempt at doing something. I have my first practice pattern picked out and printed, my wood ready, and I am ready to hit it. I feel nervous and excited, like a kid the day before Christmas. ![]() I'll let you know tomorrow how it goes. David S. |

Good luck, just go slow to start. And sign and date your first piece and put it on your shop wall. In years to come when you get stuck on a project you can look at this one and see how far you have come.

Good luck David... Just remember to use every ounce of patience you have. I still do on every piece I cut. Have fun with it though. Ryan

Good luck David. I will second Alan's comments. My first project was a Christmas ornament. Still hanging above the work bench. Denny |

Dave, in your learning period, don't forget to do some sawing WITHOUT a pattern. Freehand cut a giraffe, a duck, an arrow, anything, to get your mind flowing to your fingertips and make you less fearful should you not have a pattern for a particular job. and above all, have phun..... Carter |

Well, I just tore myself out of my shop a little while ago. This was a blast. I made a few mistakes, took a few mental breaks, but I am soooooooo hooked. ![]() For a first try I am thrilled with the result. I'll try to attach a picture if this works. I still need to clean up the fuzzies and finish the wood, but it's a keeper. I am very pleased considering that I never even turned on a saw before last week. ![]() David S. |
