Welcome Ginnyo........glad to have you here. We love new members. Everyone learns stuff from each other, and I'm sure you can teach us some stuff too. Just a suggestion, but keep your first piece scrolled on your saw. It will help you see your progress as you continue scrolling new projects. Have fun........scrolling is awesome.

Yeah, keep it and sign it and add the date. I still have a Dolphin on my wall, damn near die laughing each time I look at it. But it is a good morall booster when I compare it to my recent works.

Ginny-

Welcome to the group! You will love it here.

I don't know about Craftsman scrollsaws, I use a DeWalt, but when you do get the blade in make sure the teeth are pointing in the downward direction. John A. Nelson's book Scroll Saw Workbook 2nd Edition will help you very much. You can view and order it here . It is published by our own Fox Chapel. I think everyone, including me, has used this book when starting out in scrollsawing.

Thanks to all who replied. I guess I was just trying too hard, as I've never done anything like this before. I tried again last night, and finally got it! And so I had my first try at actually cutting -- didn't do too well with the curves, but I guess it takes practice. I think I will really enjoy this once I get better at it. I'd be very interested in finding out more about other female scrollers out there.
Have a great day!
