I've only cut a few pieces so far, but what works for me is blue painters tape(3M) on the wood, then 3M spray adhesive on the pattern to the blue tape, then clear packing tape over that. It doesn't budge, and the blue tape peels off nice and clean. Have fun!

I have found that only 3M 77 adhesive will work the best. I glue directly to the wood and then put packing tape over that. Afterwards I peel off the packing tape and use mineral spirits in a spray bottle to remove and clean up the wood.

Clear packaging tape on the wood first is another good option. Then attach pattern to the tape.

Like Janette says, I've been doing this a long time and tried a bunch of different ways. I'm now always putting clear packing tape onto the wood and they spraying the pattern with 3M 77. The pattern stays on the tape pretty much forever, but the tape peels right off the wood

Works like a champ for me

At the begining of every SSWC mag are some basic suggestions for mounting the patterns etc.

My method of choice is blue paintes tape on the wood the 3m 77 adhesive on the back of the pattern and then stuck to the painters tape.
For large patterns I replace the blue painters tape with clear Contact brand contact paper ($5 for a large roll)

Another vote for clear Contact. If it is not on for a long period of time it peels off easily. A little spirits in a spray bottle to spritz with, wipe down, and everything should be clean.

This is also the way I do it.
