Putting down a layer of tape on your wood before you put down the pattern, be it clear, blue or masking tape will provide you with several benifits. One you attach ( glue ) the pattern to the tape and not the wood therefore limiting the amount of solvents that you have to use. Two it's an easy cleanup. Rather you use the spray glue on the pattern or on the taped wood that is personal prefrence. The same with putting a clear tape over top. Basically the tape will help provide some lubrication for your blade as it cuts.
