Default Riddle Me This...

... Riddle me that,
who's afraid of the big black bat?

But seriously, I have a 3x3 1/8 plywood which I would like to cut a design and then cut in half, so I have a 3x3 1/32 piece.

Any ideas?

good luck. I would think getting 2 pieces 1/32 thick would work better.
Otherwise, try seperating the plys first, then cutting the design.

I would agree with Theresa. Try doing a stacked cut, that will give you the doubled image. The thinest plywood I remember seeing was 1/16".

I agree with the above that the only way this can be done is to stack cut several layers of 1/32" ply. Thin plys like this are avaliable at hobby shops that deal with model RC airplanes. Tower Hobbies Plywood 1/32 x 6 x 12" (1). I would place the thin plys between a top and bottom layer of at least 1/8" ply so the thin plys would not tear up as you are cutting them. Hope this helps.

I once knew of a big black bear that got bit by a big black bug and the big black bear bled where the big black bug bit him, But I don't know who's afraid of the big black bat.

Thanks for all the great info folks.

Actually my problem is exactlly what Bill mentioned, I have a very delicate emblem I'm cutting with a 1/8 hobbies ply but it keeps breaking.

Riddle me this...

As mentioned above you need to cut a stack of individual pieces to delaminate (or split wood that thin after the fact is not realistic)
I never cut anything thinner than a stack of 1/4. Also if the pattern is delicate make sure you use a backer and a zero clearance insert.
