| Hi Zeek. You've come to the right place. Welcome. You'll find an active and informative group of talented folks here (that talented part excludes me, of course).

| Welcome to the forum Zeek, tell us about your new saw, what you like and dislike about it. What are you planning to cut with it?

| Well I bought a Harbor Freight saw and have been having a blast. It seems to cut as straight as I can move been mainly messing around doing some basic cutting getting used to it. I did opt to use the pinnless blades as this machine will allow you to use either the pinned or pinless. And started on my first Fretted piece been getting some fun patterns to play with at the scrollsaw workshop and some good techniqus in his videos to make your own patterns when I finish my first piece I'll post a pic. Although some of the cuts are quite sloppy because I'd backout to cut something I foundoutlater I could just make the turn. so far it has been a ton of fun. now all I have to do is see if I can find a good source of wood super cheap lol. |

| Hi Zeek,
I am new here also, but when I saw your post I had to reply. I found a great wood at the lumber yard, it was a busted box of hardwood flooring. It has a nice finished side and not too thick, sure saves time. But if you want free wood, checkout the shipping creates and pallets you see stacked in alleys. I found a place that gives them away, and I can get wood about 12 inches long and 4 inches wide, great for small puzzles. The nails will not pull out, so I take a circular saw and just cut the inbetween sections out. Enjoy your saw |

| Another place to get cheap wood is at the Sally Ann or similar places. old trays and platters can be made with real wood that is good to learn on.You might have to sand of the finish that is on them but a lot of them come from the far east. What they call junk wood is very expencive here. Also you can cut them into smaller squares and use different finishes to find some you like. Just mark on the back what you use. I also keep in touch with Machine shops that bring large tools and machinery in. They might not have very wide boards but we seem to use small pieces. I just bought a 20" band saw and a lot of the crate was Mahogony and some sort of Oak. I am a lot more adventurist with cheap wood.
