Question my new saw

I just recieved a factory rebuilt Dremel 1830-rt. I like the saw, but the main problem I found while reserching the saw is true . The saw seems to vibrate excessively even though I bolted it down with a pad under the saw. The saw works well, but I have to slow the saw down to control the cuts. I also found out how dificult it is turn the machine off without extending the cut behond the lines. I think a foot control is in order. I really would appreciate any helpful tips from you folks. coalboy72.

foot control is a great idea.
I never was much of one for the pad. I prefer the sand table. It is a technique borrowed from wood turners.
The increased mass reduces vibration.
I feel the pad just isolates it.

The sandbox is simply a box with bolts protruding through it that mount to the saw.
The box is filled with sand and a floating cover. As the saw is turned on, any vibration makes the sand settle. As the sand settles you tighten up the bolts.
Keep tightening the bolts till the sand will not settle any more. The increased mass will reduce the vibration.

Hi,

I've been using this saw for many months and I am very happy with it. Vibrations are not a problem in my case: The saw rests on a sturdy low IKEA cupboard on three rubber pads by its own weight (not screwed down, which might induce harmonic vibrations). Very quiet at all speeds.

I would definitely get a foot control switch, much better control.

Don't know whether metal stands are commercially available for your saw, but believe me, they make all the difference.

I bought a Hegner saw without a stand & bolted it to a wooden table, I didn't know much about saws back then...much later I got a stand. The difference was so HUGE I laughed to myself for not buying one in the first place...in fact Hegner saws ought to be sold with their stands & not as an optional extra (there may be hundreds of saw owners experiencing unnecessary vibration because they're unaware of the difference a stand makes). You don't appreciate what a difference stands make unless you've messed about with wooden benches, etc.

I have a Craftsman 18" Vs, clamped to an old dining room table. I can't go above 1350 or so without everything loose falling off the table and you all talk about vibration? lol
