Default Anyone tried the ebook from howtoscrollsaw.com?

Hi All,
Not sure where I saw this link advertised. It looked interesting but was curious if anyone has purchased it and what they thought of it.

Here is the link: ScrollSaw Techniques, Tricks and Templates, to Unleash the Pro Inside.

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Chris

That add cracked me up! " Never before seen tricks and tips" Give me a break.
It all sound like one big infomercial.

Who is the author?

Ive seen that posted on ebay countless times. If youve got a scrollsaw, some decent blades, and some wood, practice is all you need to gain knowledge. And, since we've got this great site, and Fox Chapel with the magazine and books, whatever you might learn from that ebook wont even compare to what knowledge you can gain right here! This is the best ebook on scrolling, right here, and its free to us, thanks to Fox Chapel. So, save the money youd spend on that ebook, and put it towards a gross of blades, some wood, or a subscription to Scrollsaw woodworking and crafts. dale
EDIT: This may not be the same ebook deal I have seen on Ebay, after looking at the one on ebay again, this one seems different. Its basically the same type of thing though.Id spend my money elsewhere.

It sure is a long wended ad for a beginner scrollsawer to swallow. I started scrolling when I needed to make a scrolledpanel for a peace of furniture I was making. It just takes a lot of practice, and patients.

This goes back to another post I made (see it here:
Why Doesn't Scrolling Get the same Respect as other forms of arts & crafts

But...there really is no magic bullet for woodworking (aside from lasers). It all takes practice. From cutting a portrait, to cutting and shaping intarsia, to cutting a dovetail (by hand or with a router) and even making a sharp, clean rabbet or dado.

I think that the opening statement of being a scroll saw master in 30 days is a rather bold statement. With a statement like that everyone should get the book for free.

That being said after looking over the ad, I think the author has compiled a wealth of information. I can't comment on the actual content since I dont have the ebook.

The price is not outragous and you are getting some bonus materials.
It looks like there are several templates and patterns also in the series so $20 is a pretty good price.

David Goodwin does offer a money back guarantee, and it looks like he put a lot of time into the project.

Although I have tons of books at home and enjoy reading them and flipping the pages a great deal, I find the forum one of the best resources I have discovered to develop my skills.

Just ask advice and people will offer thier experiences and suggestions, in order for you to avoid the pitfalls many of us have stumbled over.

Would I buy the book? I don't think so but I already know I enjoy scrolling and have been doing it for many years. If I were a beginner my answer would probably be different.

Ebooks are usually a con.

The best "ebook" is personal experience. I'm sure any other tips & ideas can be found on websites such as this one.
