Default My first cuts (worth posting)

Here's my first cuts worth showing in public.

HPIM0974.JPG HPIM0986.JPG
These were from patterns I downloaded, done with 1/2" birch ply.

HPIM0988.JPG
This one and the next were patterns I made myself. I do have to admit that I came up with this one after seeing some of Thomas' work. This is 1" red oak. Finished with BLO. 1" was a tough cut!

HPIM0980.JPG
This is 1/2" red oak. Haven't finished it yet. I was thinking of a very dark stain, maybe even black, but I'm not sure how readable it will be. Any suggestions?

My first tip--Make sure you check the direction of your blade before you start cutting. You'll have more pleasing results. LOL.

Nice work. Those patterns are not a particularly easy kind of line to cut well, so you are doing very well.
