I have a pattern the is a spiral, is it better to start at the center of the spiral, and cut around to the outside. Or is it better to cut from the outside to the center? Thanks |

leob1 I cut from the center out, that way the uncut wood holds the cut spiral from "unraveling". I'm sure you will get more responses to this question, but that is how I cut them. |

Leob1: 1st, Welcome to the forum. I hope you find your visits enjoyable and a learning experience. The rule of thumb: Delicate first, and where it could loose structure by the cuts, leave to last. As Dave has pointed out, if you do the inside first, then the structure of the wood remains until the end. Again, welcome to the forum. Phil |

Leob1 I agree with Plaquerd, start at the inside. That way you are holding solid wood not the more delicate spiral. Much easier and more positive control of the turning.
