Remove more wood. Simple statement, but not easy to follow. If you take off a chip and the carving looks better, take another in the same place. It might look twice as good. Look at the end of your carving when you think it is looking pretty good, if it still looks square, it aint done. (well, sometimes it is) I have a few that are still square when viewed from the top. I guess that was three suggestions. |

I am a self-taugh carving. I think you suggestion is pretty accurate. I will add that you must keep carving, and keep carving. Do not expect a great carving the first time. Read Terri's confession.... |
