Hi All,

Well it was another quiet day here in Portland, Oregon. The morning was quiet and lazy, weather was overcast and cool. My lovely bride and I went to downtown Portland, to visit George & Son Cutlery. I was happy to see the Carl George carries a nice selection of carving chisels and gouges, most of which were better suited to using with a mallet. He did have a few sets of palm tools, but at the moment sets of anything are not in my budget...where does all the money go? hehehe!!

My beautiful bride did encourage me to purchase a couple of carving books...'Woodcarving-Step By Step with Rick Butz--Santas' and 'Christmas Heirloom Patterns for Wood Carving Vol. II' by Ross Oar. I have had them for maybe 12 hours and am almost through with the Rick Butz book...quite interesting!

'Dart' to answer your question...LxWxH?
3' x 3' x 4.75'
This is because i carved him from a piece of laminated poplar craft wood I bought at Home Depot, it was in a section they called 'craft wood' the pattern was originally sized for a 2' x 2' x 3.75' blank. So I did a little resizing on the copier and 'viola!'.

'Hugh' Thanks for the email...as you can see from the above I didn't laminate the wood I bought it so I hope they know what they were doing...LOL!

Well it's nearly midnight here and I am in need of a few 'Z's'

G'night all!!
