Default Buying my first scroll saw

I've been doing a lot of reading on the various scroll saws and there seems to be good and bad points to just about every saw. *I'm not sure which one to invest in. *I've been leaning toward a RBI Hawk, but am considering either a Dewalt 788 or Delta Q3. *I've read that having a 3 legged stand reduces the vibration, however the hawk looks like it has a 4 legged stand and is more expensive. *Any suggestions and why you would back one saw over the other? *Thank you.

Others may be more helpful on your saw selection, I use a Dremel, and love it. (Anything would be an improvement after that old Sears rattler I had) As for stands, I do believe that a four leg stand would be more stable. Weight in the base is the secret, keeps the thing well anchored and absorbes vibration. I built mine from 2 X 4 with a 3/4' birch ply top, even built in foot rests. It ain't pretty, but it really works well.

Good luck with the new saw.

I've been, or am, the owner of three saws. A Ryobi, DeWalt, and an RBI Hawk. Of the three the Ryobi is junk, the DeWalt is good, and the RBI is light years ahead. It, the RBI, may have four legs, but no vibration. It has the easiest blade tension adjustment on the planet. No guessing, just dial it in, just like setting a clock. Easy blade changes and easy interior cuts for fretwork. Downside, it's HEAVY, 80 pounds or so, and pricey.
