Neal,

I hope you don't mind me continuing my line of questions concerning your...I mean Megan's Ratcoon in the open forum...I couldn't figure out how to PM you the photos. None the less it is a great opportunity for others wanting to do this project to get feedback from you. If I crossed a line please PM me and tell me to pack sand...lol.

Alrighty, I made the adjustment to the whites of the eyes like you suggested. Before I go plugging his peepers in can you take a look at the elevation I used and give me some feedback. I think I am tracking pretty good but I want this little guy to look sharp when completed.

Also, I used Dark walnut as suggested and ended up with a fairly dark finish, it still looks like a racoon to me but then again as stated previously I've never seen one myself.

Honest feedback is appreciated buddy and thanks for the assistance.

Yep!!! Looks like a raccoon!! I don't know that I can tell you to do anything different than you've done. I think the elevations are pretty good from what I can see. One of the other guys did that piece and left the shoulders off and actually, I like it better that way. I think Dale did it and has a photo in the gallery. I'm happy you like the pattern and even happier to help any way I can. Next you need to do the big Lion in the book!!! I really like that guy!!!

Thanks for the input Neal, I agree with the shoulders being left off, in assembly I noticed his face looked pretty good by itself. However I have a plan for this little guy to sit on a shelf so the shoulders will most likely stay.

I am still waiting to do the horse pattern, I need to get the book to a good copying machine so I can make a large enough pattern to work with. The lion might be out of my skill range right now but I am improving so perhaps later in the year I will try that monster.

I posted the finished work in the Gallery, the eyes were just an unknown to me but I thought the blue looked pretty sporty...honestly what color are racoon eyes?

Spirals? Who me use spirals? lol

The only one I saw close up they were a bit bloodhshot - mind you it was roadkill ...

dark brown without light in their face, and hounds at the tree base. your ratcoon looks pretty nice, although i didnt go peek as the one with eyes yet! Dale

Todd, I think this would have a been the perfect project to put the spirals aside and use a fine flat blade. Is it true you are scared to death of flat blades, or is Barry just pullin our legs? Dale

LOL, Dale me and flat blades were best of pals back in the day, I just forgot how to use them and I do agree that segmentation work should be done with them. I am slowly relearning, they just cut so slow and all that twisting is insane. Barry is straight up telling the truth, I'm a spiral freak and that is why I generally stick to portraits. The only thing I am really wary of is IEDs and little furry people hiding behind sand dunes with triggers, lol. I appreciate the feedback Dale, I hear ya and I am really trying to get away from them spiral thingies.
