Default Question for Judy Peterson

Hi,

When using aspen for its whiteness, do you use oil to finish it? If so, is there any way to keep the whiteness? Thanks.

Are there any more pattern books in the works ? I'm finally starting to cut puzzles from your last book and really like the cats and dog patterns that are in there.

Dear Carole -

We just signed up for the forum this very day, and so just found your question (sorry for the long delay, and we hope you get our answer). This is Dave Peterson doing the typing for Judy.

Judy finishes her puzzles (including those in Aspen) with a clear Danish oil. There really is no way to keep the whiteness short of bleaching the puzzle (or whatever you're cutting). Judy says there are wood bleaches, but they're very strong and at least hazardous to use. If you decide to try it, be careful.

We'll watch the forum now that we know about it, and will try to reply in under 17 months hereafter!

Hi!

We just checked out and joined the forum this very day (sorry for the long delay in the response).

We do have two (1 1/2?) more pattern books in the works. We expect both to be published next spring (e.g., spring of 2009). One of them will have four more dogs and more cat in it.

We'll watch the forum at least periodically now, and try to get responses out in less than 3 years!

Dave Peterson (for Judy, too)
