Neal Moore's Tiger Portrait in Fall 2005 issue - Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Message Board

I am starting the Tiger Portrait Neal Moore posted in the Fall 2005 issue. I thought I remembered an additional article he posted on the Scroll Saw Work Shop site that described how to stain the eyes of the tiger in his portrait. Of course I can't find it now. Does anyone remember where it was posted or have I finally lost my mind?

I'm sorry I don't remember the article, but I did the Tiger Portrait out of Neal's book Animal Portraits in Wood published by Fox.

What I did on the eyes is paint them with acrylic paint. Came out quite well.

Here is a picture of it (I also got a 1st place ribbon)

Very nicely done, Bill. Neal's projects are terrific. JP, I had an article in the magazine concerning my "Wildcats of the World" project and an additional feature about painting tiger eyes was on the magazine's website. In the Search box at the top of the page when you open the Forum, type in carved fretwork. Hit page 3, scroll to the next to last item Carving on Fretwork There are detailed instructions for one of my techniques for painting tiger eyes. Regards, Dick

Bill - You certainly did earn the 1st place ribbon for the tiger. I hadn't considered acrylic paint until you mentioned it. I'll put that in my toolbox of lessons learned. Ref: JP4 Yeah I'm a retired CW4 Army pilot and I go by JP hence the play on words.
Dick - Thanks for the link. I'm very interested in the big cats and you steered me into more possibilities. I appreciate it. JP

Bill- The visual I had of the article on the eyes was the article you wrote , not Neal's. My mistake. I did find it again. You mentioned in the step by step process the colors to use but I didn't pick up if this was acrylic paint you were using.
