Default scroll saw portraits

I have been doing some portraits, namely the Crown of Thorns by ?Santomarco? and I have been doing three at a time using 1/8" plywood. How many can you do on a project this size ( 8x11) safely? Thanks

G'day Howard,
I gather you mean, how many sheets can you stack cut at once ??

It greatly depends on the type of ply you use.
Some 3mm (1/8") stuff that I use, makes cutting 3 deep the max you'd want to go as the timber and glue really give the blades a hard time.

I gather that the Baltic Birch that you blokes use can be stacked much thicker.
Some one that knows more than me will probably give you a more definitive answer

1/8th inch BB ply? I would go 5 layers high .I dont see that being a problem at all. On simple ornaments of bb ply, I have stacked 8 high using a #3 flat blade with no problems at all.

I agree with John & Dale. I usually stack cut 2-3 at a time of 1/8 baltic birch with no problem at all. Most of the time I do two at a time for easy control and it gives that extra steadyness. Edward

G'day Howard,

I find if you use more than 3 the lower copies lose definition, but then that depends on how fine the project is you are cutting.

I usually cut 2 on patterns with fine detail.
