Mockingbird Pattern

OK, so nobody got into the Scottish Terrier pattern, so how about a pattern for a mockingbird. Does anybody know where I can find a good one?

There is a good mockingbird pattern in a book by Roz Daisey. I think it is titled 'Songbird Carving', but I'm not sure. I can send you a copy of the pattern if you want.

Daisey's patterns are developed from mostly study skins, therefore are very anatomically accurate in that the feather shapes and dimensions are true. I have found that many of the Stiller patterns do not live up to this kind of accuracy, though they are good. For the purist bird carver, there is nothing like having the real thing for reference.
Roz Daisey's books are excellent for the beginner and intermediate wildfowl carver. Her approach to habitat construction is an oft overlooked area that warrants applause.

JK, the stiller pattern did little to help me understand the coloring for the M'bird, even though I have seen millions of them. Do you know where I can get a good color picture of one?

Of course there are painting instructions in Roz Daisey's book - no I don't get a commission! A 'Google' search will get you several good sources for pics. One of my favorite is www.ups.edu/biology/museum/UPSbirds.htm Getting the reference info is almost as much fun as doing the carving!

I must have bought the wrong book and did not realize that she had one that contains a color photo. My mistake! To confirm: does the Roz Daisey book to which you refer have color photos for the Mockingbird? Her books are really expensive!
