thats a beautiful bird David! how did you get the fine feathers under the eyes? Also, where is the bird from? My wife grabbed her birds of north american book and couldn't find it?

Exceptional, David! I agree with Dave, and would like to know the details on the fine texturing under the eyes.

Hi_Ho_Sliver,

They live in central Africa. I had a hard time finding reference
for these birds.

I did the feathering with a wood burner.

David, he's beautiful! Must have been fun to do, the colors are so vivid, can't imagine seeing one of those at the old bird feeder!! Fat chance of that here in chilly Pennsylvania, he'd be freezing his little birdie behind off! If one ever comes to United States it will probably be at Hi Ho's bird feeder! Wonderful carving I just love him so much color and great detail. I always admire bird carvers that is probably because I dont have the patience to carve one.
