| Re: new carver Nice to see a few more members posting and WELCOME Mary Jo. Not sure how far away you are but I am just a small 90 miles away from Joplin Mo and shop there at least once a moth.
Again Welcome to a great hobby and a greater helpful board. Hope to see your posts often.

Dave, if I could convince my wife, I'd move to Arizona in a minute. I was out there in Janurary for 3 weeks or so when my Dad had cancer surgery. The weather was great! I hated leaving, especially when I hit northwest arkansas. I ran into frozen fog and snow and it followed me all the way back to Fort Leonard Wood, well almost. I live about 2 miles from the front gate.
I'm hoping to go out there again in Janurary or Feburary. But that depends on my job and my back.

#18 | | Guest | Re: new carver Randy, it is easy to make the Arizona move decision in January, less so in August (season of heat and monsoons). I spent 8 wonderful years in the Tucson Mountain Unit of Saguaro National Park. To paraphrase (and reverse) a saying we had in Alaska, 'If you can't stand the summer, you don't deserve the winter.'

LOL And if it gets a bit too warm...I remember this time of year...and watch the snow reports from everywhere and the minus degrees of temperature.....nope the heat is just fine!! (If you come out Randy, look me up ) |

#20 | | Guest | Re: new carver I' ll do that Dave and bring my Dad along. He's been carving for years. He did his own version of the Full Moon Saloon that was done by the CCA about three years ago.
I love the heat! 20 years in the Army gave me two wore out knees three bad disks in my neck, four and ahalf bad lumbar disks ( they took half of one out March of 99, wishing they'd hurry up and do the others), and two fractured vertabrae they say will never heal.
I can forecast the weather better then any weatherman/woman on the TV!
