Rotary or drummal??

Any tips out there for those of us who on;y use rotary and drummals.

I love mine but just started my brother in law doe flotable duck decoy's.

Hi Howard 007. I teach power carving with Dremel or Fordom machines with a flex-shaft. I've been carving for about eight years with power. One of the most important things is getting rid of the dust so you don't breath it. Next in line is working with each bit at all speeds so you know what each one will do, and at what speed and presure they will burn the wood you're working on. If you don't have the bit running true it will cut un-even and you cant make fine line cuts. To make sure its runing true turn the machine on at its lowest speed, take a small open wrench and place the open end on the shaft below the cutter, if you can feel it bumping then its not running true. Losen the chuck and give the bit a quarter turn and check it again untill you feel it running smooth. The one wood you don't want to use is pine! The sap in the grain lines will gum up all of your bits and sanding drums.
